Katke-Cousins Golf Course is a Private 18 hole golf course located in Rochester, Michigan at the Oakland University facility.
The dedication of Katke-Cousins Golf Course took place in the fall of 1976 when the front nine holes were completed. In the spring of 1977, the course opened its doors for business with the additional nine holes. The course was designed by Bill Beard and later rennovated by William Newcomb.
Oakland University's Golf and Learning Center located on the beautifully wooded campus of Oakland University is home to two world-class golf courses: The R&S Sharf Golf Course and the Katke-Cousins Golf Course. In its exclusive state-by-state rankings, Golf Digest ranked R&S Sharf Golf Course 12th among Michigan's 852 golf courses in 2009. The Detroit News also has listed the Katke-Cousins Golf Course among the top 10 in the state. These championship courses have hosted numerous professional and amateur tournaments including the first Ryder Cup Champions Invitational in September 2004.
This golf training facility is primarily for Oakland University affiliates and their guests. The difficult course plays quite long and its large greens are slightly sloped. The general topography is hilly and wooded, and each hole is uniquely serene.

I don't understand the previous review of this course. The course is a great test of golf, a true classic design. The conditioning is always excellent, the greens are fast and true, and the proshop is well stocked and the staff is friendly. This is one of the best courses in the area.

this course was once a great track. Head of golf has made the pricing and conditioning an insult to anyone looking for a good experience.

Not sure what the prior reviewer experienced. I've found that the course, the conditioning, the staff, and the experience to be top flight and certainly one of the best in the Detroit area. This is a "private club" that isn't too expensive to get access to, then offers "pay as you go" golf, and is usually very easy to get on and play, normally without a tee time (certainly, Saturday morning in prime time is an exception). Without a doubt, this course and the staff is one of my biggest golfing regrets about moving away from Oakland County 3 years ago.
